How do I install and activate the Global eSIM?

With the QR code we email you instantly: scan it from your phone’s settings and the eSIM is installed. When you land, turn on data roaming for that line (that’s normal and costs nothing extra).

When does the plan start?

When the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy or install it. The plan’s days count from then (7 to 30 days).

Is there a fair usage policy?

No. The plan’s GB are a total with no daily cap: use them at your own pace while the plan lasts.

Can I top it up?

Yes. GB plans can be topped up from My eSIM with “Add data”, with nothing new to install.

Do I need to set up the APN to use it in Global eSIM?

The APN for the Global eSIM eSIM is “drei.at”. You only need to enter it if your phone doesn’t connect when you arrive: on Android, Settings → Mobile networks → Access Point Names; on iPhone, Settings → Mobile Data → Mobile Data Network.

Do I need one eSIM per country?

No: this eSIM works in all 117 countries in the pack with a single plan.

Can I install it before I travel?

Yes, and it’s the easiest way: on your home Wi-Fi. Installing it uses no data and doesn’t start the plan, which starts counting when the eSIM first connects to a network. Keep the line turned off until you arrive. You have 180 days from purchase to activate it; if you don’t activate it in that time, it expires and can’t be refunded or topped up. This plan includes Spain: if you turn it on in Spain, the plan starts counting.
